Cass County Electric Cooperative (the “Cooperative”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information that you share with us. Generally, you can browse through our websites and online applications (online resources) without giving us any information about yourself. When we do need your personal information to provide services that you request or when you choose to provide us with your personal information, this policy describes how we collect and use your personal information. 
 

Collection of Online Personal Information  

Online Personal Information is information about you that we collect in connection with providing a service to you, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, email address, a home, postal or other physical address, other contact information, title, gender, occupation, industry, personal interests or other information. 

When you visit our online resources, information about your visit is automatically collected, including: 

  

  • The name of the Internet Service Provider and the Internet Protocol (IP) address used to access our online resources 

  • The date and time you accessed our online resources 

  • The pages you accessed while at our online resources 

  • The IP address of the web site from which you linked to our online resources

Use of Online Personal Information 

The Cooperative collects Online Personal Information for purposes suitable or required for the carrying out of its business.  Information about your visit to our online resources that is automatically collected is used to help improve the site, analyze trends, and administer the site.  If you send the Cooperative an email or submit a form through the Contact page, your email address will be collected as a means of replying to you.  If you choose to receive text message updates, you are agreeing to the Cooperative’s policies and procedures.  

  

Disclosure of Online Personal Information 

The Cooperative will not sell, rent, loan, exchange your Online Personal Information or, except as otherwise authorized, release your Online Personal Information to nonaffiliated third parties without your consent. 

  

We will not disclose Online Personal Information about you except:

  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it 

  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them

  • To protect or defend the Cooperative’s legal rights or property, or to avoid liability  

  • To act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety or property of users of Cooperative services or members of the public

"Cookies" can be used to automatically log you in to your account information.  A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web server. Cookies contain information that can later be read by a web server that issued the cookie to you. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

The Cooperative has implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.  Unfortunately, however, the transmission of information over the internet and mobile platforms is not completely secure.  Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted over the internet.  Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.  We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we provide. 

The safety and security of your information also depends on you.  Where we have provided or you have chosen a password for access to online resources, you are responsible for keeping passwords confidential.  We ask you to use a unique password for your on-line account and not to share your password with anyone. 

 

Children Under the Age of 13  

Our online resources do not target and are not intended to attract children under the age of 13. The Cooperative does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 or send them requests for personal information.  If you learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.  If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@kwh.com. 

 

Third Party Sites 

The Cooperative’s online resources may contain links to other sites. The Cooperative does not share your personal information with those websites and is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites operated by third parties that are linked to our site. Once you have left our website, you should check the applicable privacy policy of the third-party website to determine how they will handle any information they collect from you. The Cooperative does not guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of any content on any third party websites.  This privacy policy will no longer apply within the third party websites. 

 

Changes to this Privacy Policy 

The Cooperative will amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information we will make that information available by posting a notice on this site.
