Wholesale Power Rate Increase Cost

At Cass County Electric Cooperative, we understand that any increase to your electric bill matters, especially as many everyday costs continue to rise.

That is why we want to be transparent about upcoming changes and the steps we are taking to keep rates as stable and affordable as possible.

Beginning April 1, 2026, wholesale power costs increased by 4.1%. Through careful planning, strong financial management, and continued system growth, CCEC will absorb a significant portion of those costs rather than passing the full increase directly on to members.

As a result, the average member rate increase in 2026 is expected to be about 1.3%.

For the average residential member, that means:

- About 60 cents more per month for an average apartment
- About $2 more per month for an average home

Over the past 10 years, CCEC’s residential rates have increased by only about 1.2 cents per kilowatt-hour. Even with this adjustment, CCEC’s average residential rate remains well below the national average.
