Update on this year's Director Elections

Thank you for your engagement and interest in the cooperative’s governance process.

The application window for board director positions has closed, and no additional members submitted applications to seek elected positions. As a result, at this year’s annual meeting, the current board of directors will be re-elected by voice vote to continue serving in their existing roles.

Because there is no contested election, an absentee ballot is not required as part of this year’s annual meeting process.

Cass County Electric Cooperative's Directors serve as liaisons between fellow members and the co-op executive staff, providing guidance and oversight on co-op operations. Directors provide the vital service of voicing the membership's needs and upholding the cooperative value of democratic member control.

The Cass County Electric Cooperative Board of Directors typically meets on the last Tuesday of every month. For more information on board meetings, contact our executive assistant at 701-356-4405.

In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity, in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA (not all bases apply to all programs). Remedies and complaint filing deadlines vary by program or incident.

Person with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.) should contact the responsible Agency or USDA's TARGET Center at (202)720-2600 (voice and TTY) or contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800)877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form (AD-3027) found online at http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_ filing_cust.html and at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide all of the information requested in the form. To request a copy of the complaint form, call (866) 632-9992. Submit your completed form or letter to USDA by:

Board members spend significant time and energy serving as a board member in a highly complex and rapidly changing industry. They have a fiduciary duty to the electric co-op and face potential personal liability for breaching that duty. Electric co-op boards may be compensated for their leadership role in guiding the co-op's direction. Several variables affect co-op directors’ compensation, including the number of meetings and other director events each year, travel for board meetings and other co-op functions, the nature of the industry, and the size and structure of the business. CCEC board members receive a per diem each month for their service, as well as mileage and travel expense reimbursement of approved expenses. 2023 director expenses totaled $246,471.35, or $4.79 per member.

Cass County Electric Cooperative respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information that you share with us. Generally, you can browse through our website without giving us any information about yourself. When we do need your personal information to provide services that you request or when you choose to provide us with your personal information, this policy describes how we collect and use your personal information.

Online Personal Information is information about you that we collect in connection with providing a service to you, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, email address, a home, postal or other physical address, other contact information, title, gender, occupation, industry, personal interests or other information.
When you visit our online resources, information about your visit is automatically collected, including:

•    The name of the Internet Service Provider and the Internet Protocol (IP) address used to access our online resources
•    The date and time you accessed our online resources
•    The pages you accessed while at our online resources
•    The IP address of the web site from which you linked to our online resources
•    The internet browser and operating system used to access our online resources
•    Location information of your device only if you opt-in to sharing such information

The Cooperative will not sell, rent, loan, exchange your Online Personal Information or, except as otherwise authorized, release your Online Personal Information to nonaffiliated third parties without your consent.

We will not disclose Online Personal Information about you except:

•    With your consent
•    To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it
•    To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them
•    To comply with applicable law, regulation, or governmental request, court or administrative orders, legal processes, or as otherwise required by our articles of incorporation, bylaws or governing law
•    To protect or defend the Cooperative’s legal rights or property, or to avoid liability
•    To act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety or property of users of Cooperative services or members of the public

The Cooperative collects Online Personal Information for purposes suitable or required for the carrying out of its business. Information about your visit to our online resources that is automatically collected is used to help improve the site, analyze trends, and administer the site. If you send the Cooperative an email or submit a form through the Contact page, your email address will be collected as a means of replying to you. If you choose to receive text message updates, you are agreeing to the Cooperative’s policies and procedures.

"Cookies" can be used to automatically log you in to your account information. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web server. Cookies contain information that can later be read by a web server that issued the cookie to you. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

Unfortunately, however, the transmission of information over the internet and mobile platforms is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted over the internet. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we provide.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have provided or you have chosen a password for access to online resources, you are responsible for keeping passwords confidential. We ask you to use a unique password for your on-line account and not to share your password with anyone.

Our online resources do not target and are not intended to attract children under the age of 13. The Cooperative does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 or send them requests for personal information. If you learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@kwh.com.

The Cooperative’s online resources may contain links to other sites. The Cooperative does not share your personal information with those websites and is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites operated by third parties that are linked to our site. Once you have left our website, you should check the applicable privacy policy of the third-party website to determine how they will handle any information they collect from you. The Cooperative does not guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of any content on any third party websites. This privacy policy will no longer apply within the third party websites.

The mission of Cass County Electric Cooperative is to serve our members’ energy needs with affordable and reliable electricity.

The cooperative has always made an effort to be completely open and transparent at all times with our consumer-members and to be sensitive and responsive to their needs and concerns. Board policies covering requests for cooperative information (Policy 113) and requests for an audience with the board of directors (Policy 114).

Members will be readily provided information which directly affects their involvement in and patronage of the cooperative such as rate schedules, service rules and regulations, Articles of Incorporation, the bylaws, published policies, operating statistics, member publications, their billing history, etc. If they have questions about any of this, they will be promptly answered.
Other information will be provided except that which is confidential or private information concerning the individuals employed by the cooperative.
Information which is of a confidential corporate nature will not be provided to the membership.
The members will be afforded every opportunity to meet with the President/CEO and/or his/her staff or other employees to resolve any concerns or problems.
If the member or members feel after such a meeting they would like to meet with the board of directors to discuss such concerns or problems, they will be provided the opportunity to do so, after which the board will proceed with its meeting agenda. If the group is large, they may be requested to limit the group to a representative number.
Either the President/CEO or the board chairman will advise the member or members of the decision or action of the board if the matter requires this.

RESPONSIBILITY: The President/CEO shall see that every effort is made to satisfy the needs and concerns of the members. After that, if a meeting with the board is requested, it shall be scheduled at the beginning of the next board meeting.
